Christmas Food
There are many foods which are eaten at Christmas time:
Christmas dinner, chestnuts, marzipan, Yule logs, mulled wine, mince pies, Stollen cake.

The Last Supper
Just before Jesus was crucified he had a meal with his 12 friends (known as ‘disciples’). At this meal he told them to remember him by taking bread and wine.
This is still done in churches today. The bread reminds his followers of his body which was nailed to a cross and the red wine represents his blood which was poured out when he was crucified for us.

The Christmas turkey was imported to France by the Jesuits and it is still known in some French dialects as a ‘Jesuite’ Christmas turkey.
Christmas pudding was first made as a kind of soup with raisins and wine in it. Christmas pudding originates from an old, Celtic dish known as ‘frumenty’.
One thing Jesus loved to do when he was on this earth was eat with those he loved. All over the world families meet together for Christmas dinner on Christmas Day.
Jesus said ‘I am the bread of life – he who eats of me will never go hungry’. He meant that in our lives we would find satisfaction by having faith in him.
The Bible says
John 6:33,35
Jesus said:
“The bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”
