Christmas Lights
Christmas decorations would not be the same without lights.
Originally only used on Christmas trees, all sorts of brightly lit decorations now light up our homes and streets at Christmas time.

Meaning
The main reason for hanging bright lights on trees and homes around Christmas time is to be decorative and festive.
However, for Christians, they are a reminder of the light that entered the darkness of the world when Jesus was born.
Did you know?
Electric lights for Christmas trees were first invented by The Edison Company in 1882. Up until then, if trees were lit, candles were used-and then, usually only on Christmas Eve night.
Now, in America, even some skyscrapers are decorated with lights for the whole Christmas period.
When a light shines in the darkness nothing can hide from it. God is light, and we cannot hide anything from Him. He knows the secrets of our hearts.
Jesus is called the light of the world.
The Bible says
John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 12:46
Jesus said:
“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.”
1 John 1:5-7
God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
