The meaning of Easter
The true meaning of Easter is that God loved us so much that he gave His only Son to die for us. He showed His power in raising him from the dead on the third day. This is known as the resurrection, which is celebrated on Easter Sunday.
More
The cross has become known worldwide as the symbol of Christianity.
The cross represents the great sacrifice that Jesus made when he allowed himself to be falsely accused, beaten and crucified.
The Bible says that Jesus died for our sins according to the scriptures.
‘The scriptures’ were the writings which are now contained in the Bible in the Old Testament. The prophets promised a Saviour and made many predictions about his death, all of which were fulfilled by Jesus.
No greater love
The ultimate expression of love for someone is to sacrifice your life for theirs. Many people throughout history have sacrificed their lives for others and they are remembered for their acts of bravery.
Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice when he gave his life for us. He did not just die for ‘good’ people, he died for all who believe in him.

The Bible says
Romans 3:23
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:6-8
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Peter 2:22,24
He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
John 3:16,17
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
